Ludlow High School Job Shadow Program School-to-Career

Our Mission: To match students with professionals in the field of the students’ future career interest. To give the student the opportunity to have a real life experience in the field of work in which they are interested. To give students the knowledge and techniques to successfully prepare for the career search.

Our Students: Our students are required to perform a number of activities to prepare them for the job shadow. Students must research two careers that they are interested in, prepare a resume, sit for a mock interview, and telephone the professional they are to shadow, to arrange the date and time. These activities provide students with an opportunity to interact in the business world and gain confidence when dealing with professionals.

What to Expect:
The Job Shadow program likes to have the student observe the professional in their day-to-day activities.
Full or half day commitment from the professional.
The students are encouraged to ask many questions.
The students are expected to dress appropriately, and behave in a professional manner.

Ludlow High School Internship Program School-to-Career

A Wonderful Opportunity for Business Professionals to Share their Knowledge and Empower Future Generations.

Our Mission: To match students with professionals in the field of the students’ future career interest. To give the students the opportunity to have a real life experience in the field of work in which they are interested. To give students the knowledge and skills to successfully prepare for a career.

Our Students: Our students are required to perform a number of activities to prepare them for the internship. Students must develop goals that they would like to accomplish during their internship. They must also develop a list of skills that they will need to use at their internship; this list will become lengthier as the student develops more career specific skills. The students are required to improve upon the use of their skills and the number of new skills that they learn. Students are screened based upon attendance, conduct, and academics. All students have expressed a desire to go to college for the career in which they are interning.

The Internship Process:
Students spend 5 hours a week working (non-paid).
Internships begin at 1:15pm depending on travel time.
Internship supervisor (employer) assigns tasks or projects for the student to complete.
Students improve upon basic skills such as reading, writing, communication, and professional interaction. Students will also learn career specific skills.
School-to-Career coordinator will perform a site visit once every two months, unless otherwise specified by internship supervisor.
Internship supervisor evaluates student using the Massachusetts Work Based Learning Plan. This can be developed by the School-to-Career or by the internship supervisor.
