The following databases offer access to articles, statistics and images from a variety of sources including newspapers, magazines, academic journals, reference books and editorially reviewed websites.

General Research

Encyclopedia Britannica Online
Includes online access to the newest edition of Encyclopedia Britannica. This is a great place to find general and background information to start your research.

InfoTrac - PowerSearch:
Provides access to multiple databases that draw on sources including online reference books, newspapers, magazines, and encyclopedias.

Massachusetts Newstand:
Includes access to articles from many newspapers, including the Springfield Republican and the Boston Globe.

Biographies

Biography Resource Center
Integrates original biographies with full-text magazine articles, images, and website links. Search for current or historic people by name, occupation, nationality, ethnicity, birth/death dates and places, or gender.

Health and Wellness Resource Center:
Use this database for beginning and general searches about health and medical topics; includes medical reference materials, 400 health/medical journals, hundreds of pamphlets, over 700 health-related videos, and articles from 2,200 general interest magazines.

Health Reference Center Academic:
Use this for more detailed searches; contains full-text nursing & allied health journals, plus current and reliable personal health information.

Global Issues in Context:
Includes international perspectives on a variety of topics. Use the introductory pages for each topic or search for specific information.

Massachusetts History Online:
Articles from 50 magazines and local newspapers for coverage of Massachusetts people, places and historical events.

Professional Resources for Teachers

Educator's Reference Complete:
1100 periodicals and 200 reports for educational research from preschool to college. Every educational specialty can be found here including technology, health and bilingual education, testing, and issues in administration, funding and policy.
