PRINCIPAL'S MESSAGE

Dear Parents and Students,

This edition of our Grade 9 Program of Studies, termed the Lion's Share, reflects the needs of the Grade 9 students at Ludlow High School.

As part of Ludlow High School's mission, it is our intent to stress a high level of academic achievement for all students and to continue developing programs to meet the needs of students who may be going on to college or on to the world-of-work. Our goal is to provide a meaningful educational experience for every student. The course selection process, however, should not be restricted to the use of this publication. Information from the student's teachers, counselor, and Curriculum and Instructional Leaders (CILs) should also be sought before the actual selection of courses. Interest, abilities, past performance, goals and objectives for the future are all important factors.

Please take the necessary time now to set the appropriate course for the four year high school journey. Your thoughtful and careful attention to the course selection process will help us to develop the best schedule possible. We must have accurate data when we make decisions regarding the number of sections of each course, teaching assignments, and the placement of courses. The selection of courses is a serious matter. It is very difficult to accommodate changes after teaching assignments and budgetary decisions have been made. Therefore, the only changes considered will be those necessary due to course failures, scheduling conflicts, or the cancellation of courses due to insufficient enrollment or available faculty to teach the course.

In order for us to design a master schedule, which is as conflict-free as possible, we need your help. We encourage you to use all of the resources of the school before finalizing a program of studies for the coming year.

Sincerely,

Gordon C. Smith

Principal
